Last updated: January 2026. This policy explains how MES CAMPAGNE collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Your privacy matters to us. MES CAMPAGNE is committed to handling your personal information responsibly and in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Please read this policy carefully before using the platform.
1. Who we are
MES CAMPAGNE ("we", "us", "our") operates the online beauty pageant platform at mescampagne.com. We are the responsible party for personal information collected through this platform, as defined by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of the Republic of South Africa.
2. Information we collect
When you register an account, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). If you verify your mobile number, we also store that number. Optionally, you may provide your gender, province, and how you heard about us. Contestants submit additional information including a display name, age, school, city/region, bio, and up to four photographs.
3. How we use your information
We use your personal information to: create and manage your account; process vote submissions and track vote credits; administer competitions and determine winners; pay prizes to verified winners; send transactional emails (account confirmation, approval/rejection notices, winner announcements); and, where you have given explicit consent, send marketing communications about new competitions and promotions.
4. Legal basis for processing
We process your personal information on the following grounds: (a) performance of a contract — to provide the services you signed up for; (b) legitimate interest — to prevent fraud and ensure the integrity of our competitions; (c) consent — for marketing communications and optional data fields. You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. Photographs and public profiles
Contestant photographs uploaded to MES CAMPAGNE are stored in a publicly accessible location so that voters can view them. By submitting photographs, contestants grant MES CAMPAGNE a non-exclusive licence to display those photographs on the platform and in promotional material (social media, website banners, press releases). Contestants may withdraw this licence at any time by contacting us and deleting their account, after which photographs will be removed within 30 days.
6. Voting data
When you cast a free IP vote, your IP address is recorded server-side to enforce the one-vote-per-IP rule. IP addresses are never displayed to other users and are not included in data exports. Vote history (vote type, contestant voted for, date) is stored against your account if you are logged in.
7. Payment information
We do not store your card number, CVV, or bank details. Payments are processed entirely by our PCI-compliant payment partners (Peach Payments and Payfast). We receive only a transaction reference and confirmation of payment amount and status.
8. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in between pages. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. The session cookie is strictly necessary for the platform to function and does not require consent.
9. Sharing of information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We share information only in the following limited circumstances: (a) with our payment processors, strictly to process transactions; (b) with our email service provider, to deliver transactional and marketing emails; (c) with law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law.
10. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. financial records, which are retained for 5 years). Aggregated, anonymised competition statistics may be retained indefinitely.
11. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information (right to be forgotten); object to processing for direct marketing; lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. 12. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, bcrypt hashing for passwords, and row-level security policies on our database. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only. Despite these measures, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Children and age categories
MES CAMPAGNE competitions are open to contestants across three age categories: Baby & Toddler (0–3 years), Kids (4–9 years), and Tweens (10–12 years). All contestants are minors. A parent or legal guardian must provide their full name, South African ID number, and contact details when submitting an entry on a child's behalf, and must accept the Terms & Conditions. By entering, the guardian confirms they have lawful authority to act on the child's behalf and consents to the child's photographs and profile information being published on the platform. We do not knowingly collect personal information from contestants outside these age categories. Voter accounts may be created by persons of any age, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from voters under the age of 13 without parental consent. If you believe a person has been registered without proper guardian authorisation, contact us immediately at support@mescampagne.com so we can review and remove the account.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
